As part of an initiative to promote wellness and Farm to School partnerships, Southern Columbia Area High School and Middle School students will have access to locally grown food, served once a month at lunchtime. The first  Food of the Month Day was held on Wednesday, March 12th and proved to be a hit with the students. The menu included fresh, locally grown salad greens including mizuna, encore salad mix, red vein sorrel, baby kale, and tatsoi with homemade vinaigrette dressing.  Many thanks are extended to Lakeville Produce in Washingtonville, Wolf Hollow Farm in Turbotville, and Gib's Farm in Elysburg for donating the produce, SCA's cafeteria staff for their assistance in serving the food, and to the members of SCA's Wellness Committee for their efforts in organizing events such as the Food of the Month Day which aim to enrich students' bodies and minds.
