The Southern Columbia Community Foundation recently announced the launch of a Teacher Grant program whose intent is "to uphold educational excellence in Southern Columbia Area public schools by promoting innovative opportunities that inspire students." The Teacher Grant program will fund as many a five proposals in this grant cycle, with awards of $200-$1,000 possible. Teachers are invited to submit an application through February 28, 2018, with awards announced on Teacher Appreciation Day (May 8th). The Southern Columbia Community Foundation, organized in February 2017, is an independent public charity dedicated to expanding and enhancing enrichment opportunities for all District students. Although in operation less than one year, the volunteer group has built a financial base strong enough to support this initiative. We thank the members of the Foundation for making this program available to our teachers and for all other efforts they are making in support of the District's educational programs.
