A team of Southern Columbia Area Middle School students recently put their imagination and design skills to the test and came away with a First Place finish in the 2015 Pennsylvania Regional Computer Fair hosted by the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit 16. The Graphic Design project of Carly Britch, Morgan Cole, and Hanna Davis, all eighth grade students, was judged to be the best among all regional public and private school entries. As a result, they will now have the opportunity to compete in the State Middle School Computer Fair to be held at Dickinson College in Carlisle on May 20th.

This year's Graphic Design competition challenged middle school students across the state to "create a fictitious restaurant and to develop its unique identity through graphic design." The enterprising students created a logo, menu, and other marketing materials to promote their restaurant. The projects were judged on a variety of factors including content, technical prowess, creativity, and conventions (being clear, concise, well-written, no spelling or grammatical errors). Congratulations to our students and their advisor Mr. Ian McCoog. Good luck at states!
