Recently, students in grades 7-12 had an opportunity to engage in circuit training exercises routinely used by National Guardsmen to keep physically fit. The circuit consisted of running, burpees, push ups, sit ups, and many other "life-long" activities that require little or no equipment. SSG Steve Beisner of the Pennsylvania National Guard led students through the circuit training exercises as part of the students' physical education classes. The Guard has partnered with the District to bring free, curriculum-enhancing programs such as this to our students. In April, students will have the opportunity to scale a rock wall courtesy of the Guard. Many thanks to Sargent Beisner for his efforts in bringing unique programs such as this to Southern and to teachers Mrs. Claire Campbell and Mr. Ted Deljanovan for their continued efforts in finding interesting ways to promote health and wellness at SCA!
