On Friday, May 30th Southern Columbia's elementary and middle school students will kick off the 2014 Southern Columbia Relay for Life celebration by participating in the annual Relay for Life Recess (Grade K-4) and Relay for Life Field Day (Grades 5-8).  During the Relay for Life Recess, SCA's elementary students will participate in activities designed and organized by the middle school students. The middle school students will then have the opportunity to participate in these same activities from noon to dismissal during Field Day. The Relay for Life Recess and Field Day activities are designed to enhance each student's awareness of cancer prevention and to help them learn more about good nutrition, physical activity, sun safety, and tobacco prevention. High School students will also be on hand to provide oversight and to assist throughout the day.

The Relay for Life Co-Chairs also announced that for a minimum $10.00 donation (larger donations are gladly accepted and appreciated) students will receive a “Welcome to Fabulous Relay-SCA Style” t-shirt and a luminaria bag which will be lit during the evening Luminaria Service.  While all students will decorate a bag to be displayed during Relay Recess and Field Day, only bags with a monetary donation will be lit during the night-time ceremony. All t-shirt and luminaria donations must be turned in to the Middle School Office by May 12th.

Co-Chair Lauren Day thanks the community for their support of Relay for Life activities through the years and for helping to "create a world with less cancer and more birthdays."  Click here for a complete schedule of activities for the May 30th event.
