Safety was the theme of the Presidents' Day in-service program attended by all District staff. The day began with a presentation by Steve Shope, Executive Director of Project Bald Eagle, who offered an eye-opening look at the growing opioid epidemic in Pennsylvania. This staff training was the precursor to activities being planned to raise student, parent/guardian, and community awareness of this ever-increasing problem.

Security expert Sam Rosenberg, and members of his INPAX team led SCA's staff through a 3-hour training which taught ways to identify potential school threats as well as techniques school personnel can use to disarm an active shooter. This training was funded by a Pennsylvania Department of Education Safe Schools Grant secured by the District.
