Southern Columbia Area High School's Forensics Team will be represented by Thomas Marinelli (11th grade), Sami Abdul (10th grade) and Adam Unger (10th grade) at the Pennsylvania High School Speech League State Championship Tournament to be held at Susquehanna University in Selingsgrove this Friday and Saturday. The students will be competing in the following events:

  • Humorous Interpretation: Adam Unger will choose a scene or "cutting" from a humorous play and memorize it. Adam will then recreate the scene using appropriate gestures and voices. This event has a 10 minute time limit.
  • Radio Announcing: Thomas Marinelli will prepare and deliver a two-minute news broadcast. Organization, timing and delivery are important in this event.
  • Impromtu Speaking: Sami Abdul will be given a topic (such as a quotation or a single word) and then have 5 minutes to prepare a speech analyzing the topic.  When the five minutes are up, Sami will present a 5 minute speech.
