Congratulations to the Southern Columbia Area Tiger Wrestling Team who capped a successful weekend of wrestling at the 2017-18 PIAA District IV Wrestling Tournament with numerous team and individual awards!  Team-wise, Southern wrestlers amassed 205.5 points- outdistancing their closest competitor by 48 points- to win the individual team title. This was a historic accomplishment for the Tigers; their first-ever District IV Team Championship! Ten Southern wrestlers earned the right to advance to the Regional Tournament with four of them crowned District IV Champions! Winning Gold Medals were Connor Fulmer, Gaige Garcia, Jaret Lane and Cade Linn. Also advancing were Patrick Edmondson, Lear Quinton, Sean Sprague, Anthony Scicchitano, Ian Yoder, and Mike Miner. Complete Tournament results are found at this link. Southern Columbia's Coaches also received special recognition sweeping the District IV Coach of the Year Awards. Congrats to Coach Mark Longenhagen, Junior High Coach of the Year; Coach Kent Lane, Assistant Coach of the Year; and Coach Jerry Marks, Head Coach of the Year! In addition to his Gold Medal, senior Jaret Lane also came home with a $500 scholarship being named a Max Shnyder Scholarship recipient. This scholarship is awarded to a wrestler based on academic performance, participation and leadership in athletics, and interest in furthering education. To the aforementoned, and all other members of this year's team, you represented Southern Columbia extremely well and can be quite proud of your many accomplishments!
