A Seasonal and Year-round Student Favorite!

Apple cider was November's Fresh Food of the Month and it proved to be a popular choice among the District's K-12 students as 46 gallons of the local favorite was consumedl  The monthly fresh food campaign provides students access to nutritious, high quality, local food, free of charge, typically during lunch periods.

French-Speaking Festival Proves to be Challenging and Fun!

Students enrolled in Mrs. Lauren Day's French 2 course recently visited Susquehanna University to spend a day immersed in interactive, French-speaking activities. The activities, organized by the University's French 301: Advanced Conversation and Phonetics, were a part of The Fifth Annual Journée de la Francophonie: An Interactive Day for Francophone Activities and French Conversations. The annual French-speaking festival gives students an opportunity to practice speaking French publicly and spontaneously.

SCA Musicians Perform in Select Choral Group

Each year, any high school student in the Benton, Berwick, Bloomsburg, Central Columbia, Danville, Southern Columbia and Millville school districts who is "a member in good standing in their district’s choral program" is permitted to audition for the Columbia-Montour High School County Chorus. From this large pool of choral musicans, a select number are chosen to perform.

Since 2003, Project Tomorrow, a national education nonprofit organization, has surveyed more than five million students, teachers, administrators, parents, and community members seeking their unfiltered input on education, technology, schools of the future, science and math instruction, professional development and career exploration. Each spring, the organization creates national reports on the U.S.

Senior Student Garners State Wrestling Award!

Congratulations to Jaret Lane who was recently awarded the Schalles PA Pinner Award, which is given to the Pennsylvania high school wrestler with the highest pin percentage! Jaret pinned 32 of his opponents in amassing a 48-0 record during the 2016-2017 season, which also saw him being crowned the PIAA 2A Wrestling Champion at 113 pounds.

Students and Staff Join Forces in Fight Against Cancer

Throughout October, Southern Columbia's students and staff were engaged in a variety of activities which raised awareness of the importance of screening and early detection in the fight against breast cancer, as well as activities which raised funds to assist those battlling this disease.

History Made as Two Advance to States!

Southern Columbia's Cross Country program enjoyed a banner day at the District 4 Championships with all runners putting in strong performances, and two in particular, reaching heights never achieved by a Tiger "thinclad." Ethan Knoebel was crowned the District 4 Class A Champion, becoming Southern's first-ever Cross Country champion!
