Forensics Team Members Qualify for State Competition

On Saturday, February 20th, six members of the High School Forensics Team competed in the District 9 Pennsylvania High School Speech League Qualifier held at Danville Area High School with all students making a strong showing.

Wrestling Team Crowned Sectional Champs!

Congratulations to the Tiger Wrestling Team on winning the team's first sectional title since 1999 and advancing nine wrestlers to next week’s District 4 Class AA tournament in Williamsport.

Wrestling Team on the Rise!

Congratulations to the Tiger Wrestling team who finished as one of the top eight teams in the state at the PIAA Class AA Team Wrestling Championships. "We proved we belonged,” stated Head Coach Jerry Marks. We needed a showing like this. It is great for the program!" Also enjoying a great week was the Junior High Wrestling Team which won the 2016 District 4 Heartland Tournment of Champions at Shamokin Area High School. Students Shine at District Chorus Festival

Congratulations to Sheila Brassard and Olivia Bodner who have been selected by the Pennsylvania Music Educator’s Association (PMEA) to participate in the Region IV Chorus Festival to be held at Greater Nanticoke Area High School, March 16-18. Sheila and Olivia were selected based on their performances at the District 8 Chorus Festival underway at Mifflinburg Area HIgh School.

Wrestling Team Reaches States for First Time in School History!

Congratulations to the Tiger Wrestling team who is competing in the PIAA Class AA Team Wrestling Championships. The Tigers have become the first Southern Columbia Area Wrestling team to advance to the State Team Tournament in the 18 year history of team dual competition. Elementary Students and Staff Launch 2016 Pennies for Patients Campaign

G.C. Hartman Elementary will once again be participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Student Series, "Pennies for Patients." This is a national fundraising campaign to support the LLS mission to cure blood cancers and improve the lives of patients and their families. "With this program, students see firsthand how their involvement can make a difference in helping save the lives of blood cancer patients simply by fundraising," stated Counselor Mr. Eric Deeter. District Awarded Two Safe Schools Grants

The Pennsylvania Department of Education has officially announced that the Southern Columbia Area School District has been awarded two Safe Schools grants designed to enhance student and staff safety. The grants are awarded on a competitive basis.  The District was awarded a $23,500 Safe Schools Initiative Targeted Equipment grant and a $20,000 grant to help support and sustain the District's School Police Officer position.
