Tigers Crowned PIAA Class AA Eastern Champs!

Congratulations to the Tiger Football Team on capturing the PIAA AA Eastern Championship! The workmanlike Tigers earned a hard fought 34-19 victory over West Catholic Prep and will now move on to the State Finals against Aliquippa.The Class AA State Championship game will be played Saturday in Hershey with kickoff at 12 noon.

December's Fresh Food Event Well Received!

Southern Columbia Area's Fresh Food of the Month campaign provides students and staff access to nutritious, high quality, local food. This month's featured food was grown on Hoagland's Farm in Elysburg.

Food Drive to Assist Local Families Underway

Once again, the students and staff of Southern Columbia Area's Career Development Program are coordinating the District's participation in the local Salvation Army's Food Drive. This is the third consecutive year the Career Development Program has spearheaded the drive at Southern Columbia.

Covers for Kids sponsored by Student Council

The High School Student Council is sponsoring a blanket and pillow drive to benefit the children and their families at the Janet Weis Children's Hospital.  All donations are due by December 15th and will be collected in Miss Stine's classroom (High School Room 106).  Please click here for more information regarding Covers for Kids.

Cookies and Milk with Santa!

Come have cookies and milk with Santa on Saturday, December 12th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Santa will arrive at 11:30 a.m.  The cost is $5 per child and includes cookies, milk, visits with Santa, games, movies, crafts, prizes and more.  All proceeds benefit the Class of 2018.  Please click here to see the flyer.

Tigers Win District IV Class AA Football Title!

Congratulations to the Tiger Football Team on capturing their first-ever, District IV Class AA Championship! The Tigers claimed the title in their second year of competition at the Class AA level. Prior to this, the team competed in Class A, amassing 22 District IV A crowns between 1991 and 2013.

Thanksgiving Wishes Extended to All!

 

Schools and offices are closed for Thanksgiving Break through Monday, November 30th. Classes will resume on Tuesday, December 1st. Happy Thanksgiving!

Honor Societies Induct New Class of Select Students

Each year, an elite group of Southern Columbia Area students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, are recognized for their accomplishments through induction into either the National Honor Society (reserved for students in grades 10-12) or the National Junior Honor Society (reserved for students in grades 9 or 8).

PIAA Reclassifications Announced

The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association‎ (PIAA) has released its long-anticipated enrollment classifications which has reclassified or reorganized Pennsylvania's high school's into new divisions beginning with 2016-2017, school year. These changes will be in effect the following year too. The Southern Columbia Area Boy's Basketball team will compete in 3A, while Baseball, Field Hockey, Football, Girls Basketball, Softball, Track, and Wrestling will be grouped in the 2A division.
