BOYS vs. GIRLS SOCCER CHALLENGE

The Boys and Girls Soccer Teams will battle for SCA bragging rights on Saturday, November 14th, at 11:00 a.m at the SCA varsity soccer field.  It is a friendly rivalry but sure to be an intense battle! POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL RETURNS!

On Sunday, November 15th, the Varsity Club will be sponsoring a Powder Puff Football game at Tiger Stadium.  9th and 10th grade teams will play at 5:00 p.m. followed by the 11th and 12th grade game.  The admission price is $2.00 and everyone is asked to bring a canned good or non-perishable food item to support our local food banks.

Veterans' Day Invitation Extended to Veterans and Active Duty Servicemembers

The Southern Columbia Area High School will hold its annual Veterans’ Day Assembly on Wednesday, November 11th in the High School Auditorium.  As is tradition, any alumnus and/or resident of the Southern Columbia Area School District who is a veteran or  who currently is serving in the military, is invited to attend a luncheon of appreciation and the Veteran's Day Assembly. All guests will be recognized at the assembly. The assembly will be held at 1:00 PM, preceded by the luncheon at 12:00 noon. The luncheon will be held in the lobby of the Charles T.

Girls Capture First District Cross Country Title in School History!

Congratulations to Coach Lanny Conner and the members of his Girls Cross Country team on winning the District IV Class A Championship! The squad ran past Northeast Bradford and in doing so became the first Tigers Cross Country team, boys or girls, to win a District championship and to qualify for States as a team. All seven runners for Southern Columbia Area finished in the top 30. "It’s incredible, ...they showed a heck of a lot of heart!," stated Coach Conner. Freshman Haley Scopelliti led the Lady Tigers by finishing third in 20:52.

HS SADD Chapter Celebrates Red Ribbon Week

A spirited hallway decoration contest sponsored by the SCAHS Chapter of the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) helped kick off this year's Red Ribbon Week celebration in the High School. Each class was asked to decorate a designated hallway to portray this year's campaign theme, Respect Yourself. Be Drug Free.

Students in Grades 7-12 Invited to Learn About Future Career Possibilities

A Future Careers Expo will be held on Thursday, October 29th from 6 to 8:30 PM in the Kehr Union ballroom at Bloomsburg University.  Students and their parents are invited to join regional employers and educational institutions for a night of career exploration, free of charge.  Enjoy door prizes and light refreshments.  Pre-register at www.bloomu.edu/stem-careers to be eligible for door prizes.

District's Wellness Efforts Recognized Statewide

Southern Columbia Area’s Farm to School and Wellness Committee efforts are being featured statewide through Twitter messages sent by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and through links on the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture website.
