With COVID-19 related school closures extending through at least April 6, 2020, it is essential that all schools revisited their Continuity of Education (COE) efforts.

All School Facilities Closed to the Public Until Further Notice

All school facilities are closed to the public until further notice.  This includes all indoor and outdoor facilities, including but not limited to the stadium/track and lower practice fields.

New Distribution Schedule as Grab & Go Meals Continue

The distribution schedule for the Free Grab & Go Meals will change beginning March 25, 2020.  In an effort to limit contact, meal distribution will only be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Meal distribution will continue on these three days each week  at the Catawissa Hose Co. No. 1, 400 South Street, Catawissa between the hours of 11:00 a.m.

The test for Coronavirus on our alumnus, who attended Career Day, showed no signs of the virus. Please continue to monitor for symptoms and follow the Governor’s guidelines.

District & High School Offices Reopen Monday

The District and High School Offices will reopen Monday, March 23, with limited staff.

Encore's Beauty and the Beast Postponed - TBA

The Encore presentation of Beauty and the Beast, originally scheduled for the weekend of March 20-22, has been postponed.  The makeup dates will be announced.

Grab & Go Meals Available for Students

The Southern Columbia Area School District Food Services Department will begin serving a Grab & Go bag breakfast and lunch at the Catawissa Fire Company building, located at 400 South Street in Catawissa.  This location is the District's Federally approved location for meal distribution.  Breakfast and lunch will be available to children between the ages of 0 and 18.  Pick up is between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  Grab & Go meals will be available on the following dates:

Flexible Instructional Days Beginning

Hello Everyone,

We are in unprecedented times….we all need to be aware of what’s going on in the world around us, be flexible to the point we are ready to act if needed, and at the very forefront stay safe.

With that there needs to be some sense of normalcy…education can help us obtain some of that normalcy.

School Board and Committee Meetings Cancelled

The Board of Directors meeting and Committee meetings scheduled for this evening have been cancelled. the  There will be a Policy Committee meeting on Monday, March 30, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. and a Special Board meeting for general purposes at 6:00 p.m., which will be immediately followed by a Facilities/Finance Committee meeting.  The three meetings will all be held in the High School Library.

Special Features

Southern Columbia is engaged in a yearlong initiative to Soar into Space in hopes of being chosen as a downlink site for a live feed emanating from the International Space Station. If chosen, students and staff will be afforeded the unique opportunity to speak with the astronauts currently on the space station sometime in spring 2020. To help the District's application stand out among the rest, Literacy Specialist Lindy Novak and Library Manager Amanda Noblit, have created a set activities and events.Learn More

The Take 5 to Save Lives program outlines 5 things that we can all do to work together to prevent suicide.The campaign encourages everyone to take five minutes out of their day to complete five prevention-focused action steps: 1.
