Book Fair Opens November 12th

Southern Columbia's Annual Book Fair for elementary and middle school students will be held November 12th through November 20th. The Fair will be open in the G.C. Hartman Elementary School Library during regular school hours and throughout the Parent-Teacher Conferences scheduled for November 19-20.

SCA Awarded Safe Schools Grant

Secretary of Education Pedro A. Rivera recently announced that $1.04 million has been awarded to 60 public school entities to establish and implement programs to prevent and reduce violent incidents. Applicants were eligible to receive up to $20,000 to fund programs. Southern Columbia was one of awardees, receiving the maximum amount.

Foundation Announces PayPal Donation Option

A secure way to donate electronically has been announced by the Southern Columbia Community Foundation. Effective immediately, donors can make monetary contributions to the Foundation through its newly-created PayPal account.

Distinguished Alumni Inducted

Since 2008, twenty-four graduates of "Southern Area schools" have been bestowed the recognition of being a Distinguished Alumnus. Three of these graduates were recently inducted in a ceremony held before present-day, Southern Columbia Area students and staff.

Congratulations to Morgan Cole, Class of 2019, who was recently honored as Scholar Athlete of the Week. The award is sponsored by The Daily Item, SUN Orthopaedics of Evangelical and PPL Electric Utilities and honors local student-athletes who thrive in the classroom, in the community and on Susquehanna Valley playing fields.

Student-Athletes Reach Milestones!

Congratulations to Meghan Longenhagen, Julian Fleming, and Gaige Garcia who reached important milestones in their respective sports. Meghan, Class of 2019, recorded her 50th career goal while helping the Lady Tigers Field Hockey Team capture the Warrior Run Tournament on September 22nd. Since then, Meghan has increased her career total to 59.
