State Championship Gear Now Available for Ordering

Attention Tiger Football fans- the official State Championship gear is now available for ordering! According to the Boosters, there are four different clothing design options, two in black and two in vegas gold. You can order t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, crewneck sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, as well as wicking material options. There are also four different hat options for purchase. Order forms can be downloaded by clicking the link below or by stopping in any of the school offices.

Saturday's Basketball Games Will Help Fight Pediatric Cancer

This weekend's Southern Columbia Area vs. Mt. Carmel Area Basketball Classic will see the teams unite in a common fundraiser designed to fight pediatric cancer. This year's "Classic" marks the fourth year of this joint-effort which has raised nearly $13,000 to date.

Negative Meal Balance Reminder

Parents/Guardians are expected to keep a positive balance in their child’s account at all times. Students who have negative balances will be subject to the following guidelines:
  • A student will be allowed to charge up to $10.00, which will be applied to his/her account.  After reaching this limit, he/she will receive an alternate meal consisting of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, milk, fruit and vegetable for lunch. The price of the alternate meal will be equal to existing paid/reduced lunch prices.

SCA Observes Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” In recognition of Dr. King’s legacy of service to all, Congress designated the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service in 1994.

Student and Staff Accomplishments Recognized at Board Meeting

At the January 11th Board Meeting the following students and staff were recognized for outstanding accomplishments:
 
Third Grade student Kemilyn Hill was recognized as January's Citizen of the Month. Kemilyn was nominated for this award by her teacher, Mrs. Shelly Hower. Kemilyn was cited as being "an excellent example of a model student, one who exhibits all the qualities of G.C Hartman Elementary Center’s ROAR rules on a daily basis." Mrs.

Facility Use Requests Now Made Online

The use of paper forms to make Southern Columbia Area School District facility use requests has been eliminated with all requests now being made online, using a community facility use request software known as MasterLibrary ML Schedules. A resource page with links to ML Schedules has been created on the District's website. The page also contains videos and other helpful step-by-step instructions.

New Traffic Patterns Now in Effect

Effective with the new year, the driveway located near the District marquee will allow for two-way traffic. Because the driveway provides access directly to a State highway, the District was required to submit a Highway Occupancy Permit with PennDOT.  A goal for altering the driveway is to help improve traffic flow especially at dismissal.

4th Grade Musical Caps Entertaining Holiday Concert Season

The 4th Grade Chorus under the direction of teacher Mrs. Monna Tomtishen closed out the holiday concert season with an entertaining Christmas musical that featured holiday tunes and numerous speaking parts. Bravo to our young performers on a job well done!.
