Public is Invited to FBLA's First Annual Yard Sale and Craft Show

The public is invited to attend the First Annual Southern Columbia FBLA Spring Fling to be held in the High School parking lot, Sunday, May 24th from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM. The event will feature yard sales, craft vendors, food, music, face painting, games, and a dunk tank! Inquiries for yard sale space or a craft booth can be made to FBLA advisors Mrs.

Buddy Bench Initiative Adopted by G.C. Hartman Elementary School

With help from a generous community partner, G.C. Hartman Elementary has joined many schools across the country in bringing a Buddy Bench to their school. Among the goals of the Buddy Bench initiative is to help eliminate loneliness and foster friendships on the playground.

Earlier today, the District, in cooperation with the Locust Township Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police, conducted a drug search of the Middle School and High School using specially-trained dogs who are able to sniff out drugs. The dogs used are highly specialized and certified for this purpose.

Student-Designed Tiger Logo Enjoys Widespread Appeal

Over the past year, you may have noticed a new Tiger logo appearing on SCA publications, stationery, and Tiger wear. The new Tiger head logo, the creation of aspiring artist, Madison Yocum, Class of 2015, has proven to be very popular and is now generally recognized as the District's "official" logo.

First Grade Students to Participate in Outdoor Classroom Experience

On Thursday, May 7th, G.C. Hartman's First Grade students will be participating in an all-day, outdoor classroom experience emphasizing nature studies on the school’s nearby nature trail .  "The day’s activities will bring an appreciation and better understanding of natural habitats and its inhabitants," stated Michele Richards, President of Pennsylvania Master Naturalist, a non-profit group which is coordinating the day's actvities.

G.C. Hartman Staff Inspire Elementary Students for PSSA Success!

While taking tests is low on the list of "fun things to do for students," G.C. Hartman students undoubtedly look forward to the arrival of  the annual PSSA-testing season since it also marks the return of the school's annual PSSA Idol Contest!  During this fun-filled event, SCA adminstrators, teachers, and staff perform songs, dance routines, and skits which encourage students to give their best effort in the English Language Arts, Science, and Math assessments.

State Mandated Dental & Physical Examination Forms due by May 8, 2015

STEM Magnet Application Deadline is Approaching

The application deadline for the 2015-2016 STEM Magnet Program is Wednesday, April 15, 2015.  Please do not miss the opportunity to participate in this program due to not getting your application in on time.  "It was great to come and visit with your school," stated Kimberly Bolig, Director of Bloomsburg University's STEM Education Center.

Anthracite Heritage Festival of the Arts Recruiting Performers for its Talent Showcase

Auditions for the Anthracite Heritage Festival of the Arts Talent Showcase 2015 will take place at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, April 28th, at the Northumberland County Career and Arts Center, 2 E. Arch Street in Shamokin. Performers selected from the audition date will participate in the showcase from noon to 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 23rd. The showcase is open to anyone residing in Northumberland County, with one to six performers permitted in each act.
