SCA Alumnus Henry Hynoski Re-Signs with Giants

Henry Hynoski, perhaps Southern Columbia Area's most famous alumnus, has signed a new two-year contract to play football for the New York Giants. Henry became a free agent after the recently-concluded NFL season and was quickly re-signed by the Giants. Obviously they "know a good thing when they see it." Congrats to Henry for his success on and off the field! Keep up the great work!

MS Graphic Designers Win Computer Fair Competition!

 
A team of Southern Columbia Area Middle School students recently put their imagination and design skills to the test and came away with a First Place finish in the 2015 Pennsylvania Regional Computer Fair hosted by the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit 16.

Kent Lane Crowned State Champion!

Kent scored a decisive 5-0 victory over Robert Patrick of Ligonier Valley to win the gold medal. Kent's younger brother, Jaret Lane, a freshman, also had a big day. Jaret earned a state medal finishing fifth in the state!

Students Preparing for Empty Bowl Fundraiser

Once again, the Senior Class and the High School Art Club are joining forces to help combat local hunger through a community service project known as the Empty Bowls. The students intend to raise funds which will be donated to the Manna for the Many, a Shamokin-based, food bank. The students are currently selling $5.00 tickets for the Third Annual Empy Bowl Fundraiser which will be held on Sunday, March 29th in the High School Cafeteria from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

Forensics Team Shines Again!

Southern Columbia Area High School's Forensics Team turned in another fine showing, this time excelling at the 2015 PHSSL District 9 Tournament. At the District tournament, the Duo Interpretation team of Lena Becker and Aiyona Hayman finished second in that category, as did Adam Unger in Humorous Interpretation.

Students Excel in Governor's STEM Competition

A Southern Columbia Area High School STEM team consisting of  Noah Carl, Tyler Keiser, Thomas Marinelli, Elyse Noll, and Conner Swank placed second in the Governor’s Jobs1st STEM Competition.

Student-Athletes Advance to State Competition

Southern Columbia Area will be represented by five student-athletes at upcoming PIAA swimming and wrestling championships after each turned in outstanding performances in contests concluded this weekend. Jacob Ryan, a member of Bloomsburg Area High School's swimming team, captured the District 4 Championship in the 100-yard backstroke with a career-best time of 56.14 seconds. Jacob was also a member of Bloomsburg Area's championship 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay teams.
