Anonymous Tips Program Launched by State

The Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General has launched an anonymous tips program designed to help fight illegal drugs and to protect minors against sexual cybercrimes. 
 
The Bureau of Narcotics Investigation within the Office of Attorney General has set up a tip line that seeks to keep drugs out of the wrong hands and improve the quality of life for citizens.

Two Tiger Wear Sales to Benefit the Football and Basketball Boosters

If you are looking for Southern Columbia-themed gifts this holiday season, two SCA Booster clubs are offering online and on-campus shopping options. The Boys Basketball Booster Club is selling Tiger Apparel through their online store which will be open through December 1st. The Football and Cheerleader Boosters will hold a Tiger Wear Sale on Saturday, December 6th in the lobby of the Charles T. Nesbitt Gymnasium from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

District Awarded Second Safe Schools Grant

The Southern Columbia Area School District has been awarded a 2014-2015 Safe Schools Targeted Grant for Equipment.  The Pennsylvania Department of Education received 182 applications and made awards to 123 schools. The District's proposal called for the purchase of additional interior video cameras. It will receive $10,720 to accomplish this goal.

Tigers Voted Best Football Program in PA!

The storied Southern Columbia Area Football Program has received some much-deserved recognition by being voted the Best Football Program in Pennsylvania in a contest sponsored by USA Today. The Tigers will now advance to the Regional Round of this contest. The Regional Round will begin at noon on November 20th and will end at 2 PM on December 1st.

POD Students Benefit from Financial Literacy Program

First Columbia Bank recently announced that they certified 157 students in financial literacy during the 2013-2014, school year, through the First Columbia Bank Financial Scholars Program.

District Awarded a PDE School Police Officer Grant

The Southern Columbia Area School District was among 114 Pennsylvania schools awarded a 2014-2015, Pennsylvania Department of Education Safe Schools Grant.  The grant program was created last year, and allows schools and municipalities to receive funding through the Department of Education to cover the cost of hiring a school resource officer or school police officer.

Tigers Football Team Nominated for Best Football Program Contest!

The Southern Columbia Area Football Team has been nominated by USA TODAY to compete in the newspaper's 2014 Best Football Program contest. There will be three rounds of voting by the public to determine the ten best football programs in the nation. The athletic department of the winning school will receive $1,000. Second place will receive $500 and third place will receive $250.

Eighth Annual Southern Columbia Christmas Dinner

The Eighth Annual Southern Columbia Area Christmas Dinner for senior citizens will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014, in the HS/MS Cafeteria. The annual dinner is sponsored by the students and staff of the Middle School and is open to all District residents who are 55 years of age and older. There is no cost to attend, but seating is limited to 150 guests.
