Homecoming Court Announced!

Congratulations to the following students who have been named to Southern Columbia Area High School's 2019 Homecoming Court  (pictured left to right)- Mikaela Brouse, Victoria Brown, Halle Cox, Gina Gratti, Maggie Morrison, and Lauren Rose.  The Homecoming Queen will be crowned Friday evening at 6:50 PM prior to the Tigers football game vs Central Columbia,
 

State Gridiron Record Set

Congratulations to senior Gaige Garcia who broke the Pennsylvania high school career touchdown record in the Tiger Football Team's win against Selinsgrove. The senior rushed 11 times for 84 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers' 76-0 win, the second of which was his 130th career touchdown, a new state record!

Summer Challenge Launches Reading Project!

The students of G. C. Hartman Elementary participated in the "Infinity and Beyond SCA Summer Reading Space Chase."  The summer reading initiative consisted of eight reading challenges that were intended to enhance literacy and each student’s knowledge of science, with a focus on space science.

Take 5 to Save Lives

The Take 5 to Save Lives program outlines 5 things that we can all do to work together to prevent suicide.The campaign encourages everyone to take five minutes out of their day to complete five prevention-focused action steps:
 
1. Learn the Signs: Take a few minutes to learn the warning signs of suicide. 
2. Know How to Help- Know what to say and do if someone you know is struggling.
3. Practice Self-Care- M

Veterans Day Invitation

Alumni and residents of the Southern Columbia Area School District who are veterans or currently serving in the military are invited to join SCA's students and staff in the High School's annual Veterans Day Assembly to be held Monday, November 11th in the High School auditorium. 9/11 Day: Turning Tragedy into Good

Wear a Green Shirt Today!

Students and staff are encouraged to wear a green shirt today (including their green Mental Health Awareness t-shirt if they have one) in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day and to serve as a reminder "to reach out to a friend and let them know you care."

This week, Southern Columbia Area will join with thousands of schools and youth organizations across the United States to participate in Start With Hello Week, a national campaign to teach students, grades K–12, the skills they need to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness, and encourage them to reach out to and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation. 

World Suicide Prevention Day

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Students will participate in activities which will help spread awareness about suicide prevention.  The theme of WSPD is “Working Together to Prevent Suicide.” This theme was chosen because it highlights the most essential ingredient for effective global suicide prevention- collaboration. We all have a role to play and together we can collectively address the challenges presented by suicidal behavior in society today.
