Eighth Annual Southern Columbia Christmas Dinner

The Eighth Annual Southern Columbia Area Christmas Dinner for senior citizens will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014, in the HS/MS Cafeteria. The annual dinner is sponsored by the students and staff of the Middle School and is open to all District residents who are 55 years of age and older. There is no cost to attend, but seating is limited to 150 guests.

School Performance Profile Scores Released

Earlier today, the Pennsylvania Department of Education publicly released the School Performance Profiles for the 2013-14, school year. All Southern Columbia Area schools did well with each scoring well above 70, the score PDE considers to be satisfactory. In a news release, acting education secretary Carolyn Dumaresq said that 72 percent of public school buildings earned a score of 70 or higher, the same percentage as in 2012-13. That equals 2,134 schools of 2,947 for which there are profiles. G.C.

Draft Comprehensive Plan and AFR Available for Review

Recently, two important documents were uploaded to the District's website- the draft version of the Comprehensive Plan and the Annual Financial Report which has been submitted to PDE.

Parents Encouraged to Participate in Annual Survey

Southern Columbia Area parents and guardians are invited to share their ideas about the use of technology for learning by participating in the annual Speak Up survey sponsored by Project Tomorrow.

State Cross Country Championships This Morning

Girls Soccer Team Competes for District Championship!

Special Agent Holter to Visit SCA's Schools

Special Agent Janene Holter of the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office will hold special assemblies for students in grades 6 through 12 speaking about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. Special Agent Holter will also visit the K-5 classrooms and deliver age-appropriate anti-drug messages to these students.
