Today all schools will operate on a planned, two-hour-delay schedule. While students will report to school later than normal, all staff will report at their regular time. The District's educators will use the two-hours to study and analyze student assessment data including PSSA and Keystone Exam results. The information this data provides will be used to prioritize instructional time and to more easily identify individual students' strengths and instructional interventions that can help them continue to progress.

Laptop "1:1" Program Presentation -Wed. Evening for 8th-12th Graders

8th - 12th grade students (& 7th graders in Algebra I) and parents/guardians are invited to join our technology staff and administration Wednesday evening during the MS-HS "Back To School Night" for one of two short presentations which will provide information about our "1:1" (one-to-one) laptop initiative. The presentations will be held in the HS Auditorium, and start promptly at 6:00pm and 7:30pm.

Labor Day Holiday Observed

Schools and offices are closed today in observance of Labor Day. Classes will resume tomorrow.

SMART Meeting

Parents of Middle School students are urged to attend a reorganizational meeting of SMART at 6:00 pm in the HS cafeteria. The positions of President, Secretary and Treasurer need to be filled immediately.  This parent group plans and conducts fundraising activities for students in grades 5 - 8.

The Board of Directors will hold a special meeting for general purposes at 6:00 p.m. in the District Office conference room.  It will be immediately followed by a Facilities/Finance Committee meeting, also in the District Office conference room.

The Board of Directors will hold a Facilities/Finance Committee meeting immediately following the special Board meeting, which is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.  Both meetings are open to the public and will be held in the District Office conference room.

Student Achievement
We were pleased with the results of our efforts last year as PSSA and Keystone data released this summer showed significant improvement in student achievement. We look to build on this progress. PSSA Math: 3rd Grade 10.2% gain, 5th Grade 12.4% gain; PSSA  Reading: 3rd Grade 8.2% gain, 4th Grade 11% gain, 6th Grade 7.4% gain;  PSSA Writing: 5th Grade 25% gain!; Keystone Exams: All Algebra I students in grades 6-11 made a 13.4% gain, Biology 15.4% gain, Literature 5.1% gain.
