Cheer Team Prepares for State Competition!

Southern Columbia's Competitive Cheer Team, coached by Kenda Roth, will be headed to Hershey's Giant Center, January 19-20, to compete in the PIAA Compeititve Spirit Championship. The squad earned the right to compete in the Small Varsity Division Championship (teams with 15 or fewer cheerleaders), after capturing that division's District IV title.

Good luck to Southern Columbia's Competitive Cheer Team who will competing in the PIAA Competitive Spirit Championship this weekend. SCA Hosts Middle School County Chorus

The Columbia-Montour 2018 Middle School County Chorus, hosted by Southern Columbia, received rave reviews from an appreciate audience which filled the auditorium to capacity.

Columbia-Montour MS County Chorus

Southern Columbia will host the 2018 Columbia-Montour MS County Chorus Festival this evening at 7:00 PM. The festival will be held in the High School Auditorium. Students from the Southern Columbia, Danville, Central Columbia, Bloomsburg, Benton, Millville, and Berwick school districts will be performing.  2016 Distinguished Alumnus, Mrs. Jewel Griffith, is the guest conductor.

FBLA Members Qualify for States

Southern Columbia's FBLA chapter enjoyed a banner day at the Regional Leadership Conference, registering an unprecendented eleven first place finishes, and sending twenty-seven students onto State Competition. "Our Region consists of seventeen area schools, so to have this many winners is really a salute to all of our great teachers!" exclaimed advisor Mrs.

School Board News

The Board of Education welcomed back a former director and bid farewell to another at a special meeting for general purposes held on January 2nd. It also set a new meeting start time, 7:00 PM, for all regular meetings beginning Monday, January 8th.

Foundation Announces Teacher Grant Program

The Southern Columbia Community Foundation recently announced the launch of a Teacher Grant program whose intent is "to uphold educational excellence in Southern Columbia Area public schools by promoting innovative opportunities that inspire students." The Teacher Grant program will fund as many a five proposals in this grant cycle, with awards of $200-$1,000 possible. Teachers are invited to submit an application through February 28, 2018, with awards announced on Teacher Appreciation Day (May 8th).

Two-Hour Delay for Data Analysis

Today all schools will operate on a planned, two-hour-delay schedule. While students will report to school later than normal, all staff will report at their regular time. The District's educators will use the two-hours to study and analyze student assessment data including PSSA and Keystone Exam results.
