Students and staff are encouraged to wear a green shirt today (including their green Mental Health Awareness t-shirt if they have one) in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day and to serve as a reminder "to reach out to a friend and let them know you care."

This week, Southern Columbia Area will join with thousands of schools and youth organizations across the United States to participate in Start With Hello Week, a national campaign to teach students, grades K–12, the skills they need to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness, and encourage them to reach out to and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation. 

World Suicide Prevention Day

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Students will participate in activities which will help spread awareness about suicide prevention.  The theme of WSPD is “Working Together to Prevent Suicide.” This theme was chosen because it highlights the most essential ingredient for effective global suicide prevention- collaboration. We all have a role to play and together we can collectively address the challenges presented by suicidal behavior in society today.

Football Team Opens Fall Sports Season for SCA on National TV!

Good luck to the Tiger Football Team who open Southern Columbia's fall interscholastic sports season with a game against Hammond Upper School. Kickoff is 2:00 PM at Edens Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina. The game will be televised to a national audience on ESPN2, with audio play-by-play available through the Black Diamond Sports Network
