Budget Information Meeting

All Southern Columbia Area School District stakeholders are invited to attend a Budget Information presentation this evening at 6:00 PM in the High School Auditorium. Unfortunately, the 2014-2015, budget forecast is not good. Please attend this session to learn more about the 2014-2015 budget, the District's plan to address a projected revenue shortfall, and what you can do to assist the District  in navigating through this difficult period. Information concerning the May 20th referendum question will also be presented.

HART Playground Goal Realized

Empty Bowls Celebration Rescheduled for June 1st

The Empty Bowls celebration originally scheduled for April 26th has been moved to Sunday, June 1st in order to avoid conflicts with several other school and community activities also scheduled that day. The event will now become an ice cream social. The Empy Bowls is a joint community service project and fundraiser of the Senior Class and the Art Club. The project is designed to raise awareness of the fact that hunger is a problem in our region.

FBLA Fundraising Effort Underway

SCA's FBLA chapter is in the midst of a fundraising effort designed to offset costs needed to send seven students to FBLA's National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. The students placed in FBLA's state competition and earned the right to compete in nationals to be held during the conference. The students and their competitive event are listed below:

Fresh Food of the Month Day

All students in grades 4 through 12 will have the opportunity to sample, farm-fresh foods during today's lunch periods. The Food of the Month Day is an opportunity for students to try fresh foods, locally grown by farmers in our area. Many thanks are extended to Lakeville Produce in Washingtonville, Wolf Hollow Farm in Turbotville, and Gib's Farm in Elysburg, who will be donating these foods. Freshly-picked organic and hydroponic springtime greens, sprinkled with a cranberry nut granola, and topped with a delicious homemade vinaigrette dressing will be served today.
