Once Upon a Mattress Opens Tonight

This year's Encore production, Once Upon a Mattress, will debut this evening at 7:00 PM. Other presentations will be Saturday, March 5th at 7:00 PM and Sunday, March 6th at 2:00 PM. All performances will be held in the High School Auditorium. Reserved tickets are $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for students. All tickets sold at the door will be $10.00. You can purchase tickets by emailing SCAEncore@gmail.com or by calling (570) 204-3207.  Tickets will also be sold at the High School from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM on Saturdays.

 

Presidents' Day Observed

There will be no classes for students today in observance of Presidents' Day. The District's teachers will be engaged in in-service activities.

Planned Two-Hour Delay Schedule Today

Today all schools will operate on a planned, two-hour-delay schedule. While students will report to school later than normal, all staff will report at their regular time. The District's educators will use the two-hours to study and analyze student assessment data including PSSA and Keystone Exam results.

Elementary Students and Staff Launch 2016 Pennies for Patients Campaign

G.C. Hartman Elementary will once again be participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Student Series, "Pennies for Patients." This is a national fundraising campaign to support the LLS mission to cure blood cancers and improve the lives of patients and their families. "With this program, students see firsthand how their involvement can make a difference in helping save the lives of blood cancer patients simply by fundraising," stated Counselor Mr. Eric Deeter. District Awarded Two Safe Schools Grants

The Pennsylvania Department of Education has officially announced that the Southern Columbia Area School District has been awarded two Safe Schools grants designed to enhance student and staff safety. The grants are awarded on a competitive basis.  The District was awarded a $23,500 Safe Schools Initiative Targeted Equipment grant and a $20,000 grant to help support and sustain the District's School Police Officer position.

Pre-K Counts Program Coming to SCA!

The District, in partnership with the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit, is pleased to announce that a Pre-K Counts program will soon be available to Southern Columbia Area School District residents. Pre-K Counts is a free program available for children who are between ages three and five (who are not yet enrolled in kindergarten) or may be at risk of school failure – either because of family income level, language, cultural or special needs issues.

State Championship Gear Now Available for Ordering

Attention Tiger Football fans- the official State Championship gear is now available for ordering! According to the Boosters, there are four different clothing design options, two in black and two in vegas gold. You can order t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, crewneck sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, as well as wicking material options. There are also four different hat options for purchase. Saturday's Basketball Games Will Help Fight Pediatric Cancer

This weekend's Southern Columbia Area vs. Mt. Carmel Area Basketball Classic will see the teams unite in a common fundraiser designed to fight pediatric cancer. This year's "Classic" marks the fourth year of this joint-effort which has raised nearly $13,000 to date.

Tonight's Board Meeting has been Postponed

The Southern Columbia Area School District Board of Directors meeting scheduled for this evening has been postponed due to forecasted wintry weather conditions. It has been rescheduled for next Monday, February 22nd at 7:00 PM.
