Alumni News: Cynthia Adams Wins National Title!

This past weekend Cynthia Adams, a 2011 graduate and member of the track team who went on to Lebanon Valley College to pursue a doctoral degree in Physical Therapy, won the NCAA Division III National Championship in the indoor 800 meter run, winning by nearly 2 seconds in a time of 2 minutes 8.81 seconds.  The national meet was held at the JDL Fast Track in North Carolina.  It was the fifth fastest time in NCAA Division III history and capped a career that included 3 All-American honors, 12 MAC championships; 8 of those in the 800 meter run. <

G.C. Hartman Students Raise Funds to Fight Cancer

G.C. Hartman Elementary recently took part in the fundraising campaign, "Pasta for Pennies," to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Presented by Olive Garden, "Pasta for Pennies" is a service learning, character education, and philanthropy program that gives students a unique experience by making a difference through teamwork.  Elementary Principal John Fetterman offered a "sincere thank you" to all who contributed to this worthy cause.

Students Shine at Region Orchestra Festival. Tony Rodriguez Named All-State Musician!

Congratulations are extended to Tony Rodriguez and Olivia Bodner whose performances at the 2015 Central Region Orchestra festival earned rave reviews. Tony placed 2nd Oboe and Olivia placed 3rd on Flute.
 
Tony also earned the distinction of being named to the All-State Wind Ensemble.

Jacob Ryan and Teammates Win PIAA Gold Medal!

Congratulations are extended to Jacob Ryan and his 200 Yard Freestyle Relay teammates on winning the 2015 PIAA Class AA Boys 200 Yard Freestyle Relay championship! Jacob swims as a member of Bloomsburg Area High School through a cooperative agreement between SCA and that school. Jacob and his teammates, Jonah Crawford, Noah Crawford, and James Orzolek, also captured a bronze medal in the Boys 200 Yard Medley Relay. Congratulations boys on your history-making performance!

SCA Alumnus Henry Hynoski Re-Signs with Giants

Henry Hynoski, perhaps Southern Columbia Area's most famous alumnus, has signed a new two-year contract to play football for the New York Giants. Henry became a free agent after the recently-concluded NFL season and was quickly re-signed by the Giants. Obviously they "know a good thing when they see it." Congrats to Henry for his success on and off the field! Keep up the great work!
