COVID-19 Illness Policy

If your child reports or shows possible symptoms of COVID-19 while in school, the nurse will assess, isolate and call the parent for pick up.

Students sent home from school showing possible symptoms of COVID-19 will need to do the following:

1.       Follow up with your child’s doctor or call the COVID-19 hotline for further guidance.

2.       Your child must have a return to school note for your child’s doctor.

3.       Your child must be 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and with improvement of symptoms.

Students that are sick at home with possible symptoms of COVID-19 will need to do the following:

1.       Keep your child home if sick and notify the school.

2.       Follow up with your child’s doctor or call the COVID-19 hotline for further guidance.

3.       Your child must have a return to school note.

4.       Your child must be 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and with improvement of symptoms.

If your child is tested for COVID-19, please notify the school so that appropriate provisions can be made.

If your child tests positive for COVID-19, they must isolate for at least 10 days and can return when they are 24 hours without fever reducing medication AND symptoms are improving.

If your child is in close contact with a person with COVID-19- quarantine for 14 days from last contact and monitor for symptoms.

If your child tests negative for COVID-19, please keep home until 24 hours without fever reducing medication AND improved respiratory symptoms.

  Rigors (shaking)

  Sore throat
  Nausea or vomiting
  Diarrhea
  Fatigue
  Congestion or runny nose

 

Stay home if your child:

  •    Has one or more symptoms in Group A OR
  •    Has two or more symptoms in Group B OR
  •    Is taking fever reducing medication.
