Special Education Services
It is the Southern Columbia School District's mission to provide meaningful special education services and instructional programs for all students with disabilities. Southern Columbia strives to build special programs specifically tailored to the assessed needs of a student and attempts to deliver those programs in the regular education environment as much as possible. The district is committed to creating programs that are integrally involved with and delivered through general education programs. Southern Columbia offers a continuum of services to allow for more independent functioning on the part of the students as they progress through the grades.
Southern Columbia's Special Education Department strives to work with parents in creating a positive atmosphere and designing a program that most appropriately meets the individual needs of all identified students. All Southern Columbia's special education programs and services are in compliance with state and federal laws governing the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Southern Columbia operates many of the programs for its students with special needs. Some of our students will participate in programs operated by the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit.
