The comprehensive planning process is the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s process for data-driven and research-based district and school planning. It ensures districts are working toward common goals. This Comprehensive Planning process replaces the traditional Strategic Planning used by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Southern Columbia Area’s Comprehensive Plan, along with the District’s Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Shared Values, was submitted to PDE on November 30, 2014.

The District’s Special Education Plan for the July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2021 cycle received PDE approval on June 18, 2018. The District Level Plan for the July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022 cycle received PDE approval on December 7, 2018.

The Southern Columbia Area School District will provide a safe, dynamic, rigorous and relevant learning environment that meets the needs of today’s learner. We embrace innovation as a means to develop the critical thinking, problem solving and creativity skills needed to compete and thrive in the 21st century. Every student will reach their individual potential for academic excellence and every student will demonstrate the character traits of a productive and honorable citizen in a global community.
