Yesterday, 5th Grade students visited the elementary building to pair up with 2nd Grade students for a fun afternoon of Pumpkinology. Working in groups, students completed a variety of pumpkin-related predictions and experiments. These included testing whether pumpkins of different sizes would sink or float, using their senses to smell, touch, and taste pumpkin, and measuring the height and circumference of their pumpkins. All students, big and small, had a great time working together with their pumpkins. πŸŽƒ

Kindness Across Campuses

A big thank you to Chase Compton, Grady Garcia, Braylin Smith, and Jacob Gehret from Mr. Rarig's High School Woodshop class. These talented students crafted beautiful wooden blocks for the kindergarteners in Mrs. Ivey's class, and the younger students are absolutely loving them.

The surprise brought smiles and excitement to the classroom. It's inspiring to see such a meaningful connection between our high school and elementary students. Your creativity and kindness have made a lasting impact.

Students participated in a fun, whole-group speech activity for Halloween with Mrs. Huntington and Mrs. Deljanovan today. They selected their own pumpkins, communicated their color choices, and painted them. Students also worked together to decorate additional pumpkins, which are now proudly displayed outside the elementary building to show support for our sports teams as they head into the playoffs! πŸŽƒ

First responders visited G.C. Hartman Elementary School on Wednesday to educate students about fire prevention and safety. The visit was an engaging experience, as firefighters, EMS, and police officers demonstrated essential safety procedures and explained the importance of being prepared in case of a fire emergency. They showed the students how to stop, drop, and roll, as well as the proper way to exit a building safely. The highlight of the visit was when the students got a chance to see a fire truck up close and learn about the equipment used in firefighting. The event was both educational and exciting, helping students understand the critical role of first responders in their community.

On Friday, the elementary school hosted its annual Fall Festival. During this event, students in the Art Club, Student Council, and National Honor Society volunteered at the event. Students from the Art Club painted faces, while students from Student Council and National Honor Society managed the games. Students enjoyed being able to help with this because it allowed them to make memories with others in their school community. Student Council advisor Miss Stine believes helping with this event is important because "The three pillars of Student Council are spirit, social, and service, so it is important for Student Council to serve others in our school community."
