PIAA Policy on Spectator Decorum

OUTDOOR EVENTS: SPECTATOR DECORUM The presence and/or the use of balloons, whistles, and/or portable listening devices (without earphones) are PROHIBITED! The Principal and Athletic Director of each school will be requested to confiscate these items from their cheerleaders and/or the spectators from their school and community. The use of pom-poms by cheerleaders and small portable listening devices with earphones is permitted. Spectators are prohibited from removing their shirts and/or using body paint while in attendance at District and Inter-District Championship Contests. Principals and Athletic Directors of competing schools shall announce and publicize these regulations. The principal, athletic director, coaches, team physician, team trainer, players in uniform, managers, ball holders, and statisticians will be the only persons permitted in the team box. REMINDERS OF SPECTATOR DECORUM FOR THE PIAA FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS HOSTED AT CUMBERLAND VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL 1) The use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco products (including electronic vaping devices) is prohibited on Cumberland Valley SD Property. 2) All tailgating, including the use of tents and cornhole boards, must not occupy vacant parking spots. These activities should occur in grass areas adjacent to parking lots. The use of open flames (i.e. portable fire pits) is prohibited on district grounds. 3) Parking lots to venues open one hour prior to venue gates opening. 4) Spectators are not permitted to enter playing surfaces at any time. 5) To ensure pathways to venue exits are clear in the event of an emergency, spectators are asked to refrain from congregating along fences in our sporting venues. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THESE PROVISIONS OF THE PIAA CHAMPIONSHIPS AT CUMBERLAND VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL MAY RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM THE SITE AND POSSIBLE CHARGES BY THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES. POSTGAME POLICY REGARDING SPECTATORS ENTERING THE COMPETITION SURFACE AND PLAYERS/COACHES ENTERING SPECTATOR SEATING AREA PIAA member schools are responsible for the treatment of all visitors and officials attending contests conducted by their school. Access to competition areas should be limited to participating student-athletes, coaches, officials, and game personnel. For the safety of participants and spectators alike, at no time before, during or after a contest will spectators be permitted to enter the competition area prior to the teams and contest officials leaving the competition area. For the safety of participants and spectators alike, at no time before, during or after a contest should players and/or coaches be permitted to enter the spectator seating area.
