Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA)

To be eligible for discounts offered by the by the federal E-rate program Southern Columbia Area School District must ensure that all district owned devices (desktop, laptops, and tablets) have Internet content filtering on them.  To meet this requirement the SCASD Technology Office utilizes the product Lightspeed Filter owned by the parent company Lightspeed Systems.

Additionally another requirement of CIPA is for schools to monitor the online activities of minors.  For Internet monitoring features SCASD again utilizes the Lightspeed Filter.
