This afternoon, the students in Mrs. Sharrow's Kindergarten class drew maps of the classroom. Some students worked with a buddy and others drew the map independently. Either way, they had fun drawing and learning about maps!
Nature Day was a wonderful experience for all 1st graders and the weather was beautiful. The conditions for exploring nature couldn't have been any better.
Elementary students continue to show kindness to their classmates and are rewarded with leaves on their class Kindness Tree. Once their tree is filled, they come to the art room and choose a large kindness leaf and have their photo taken. The students then place the leaf on the huge Kindness Tree in our lobby. Each leaf represents 10 acts of kindness and earns $1 towards a charity at the end of each school year. This year's donation will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Mrs. Gessner's Kindergarten class recently learned about all of the important parts of plants. They enjoyed exploring the nature trail and finding the new plants they learned about in class. Contributor: Maddie Glasgow, High School Journalism Student
Elementary staff continued a PSSA tradition with the 2022 version of PSSA Idol. Staff use Idol as a way of helping our students to relax and be in a positive frame of mind entering the PSSA testing period. Staff shared their talents as well as advice in helping students to do their best of the test.

Students in Mrs. Spotts' room did a fun project in math class highlighting that a fraction is a part of something. In this project, the students used their own names and broke them down to determine the ratio of vowels and consonants in their names.

Before Easter Break, Mrs. Diehl's 4th Grade class colored eggs to donate to the Mount Carmel Lions Club Easter meal.
Mrs. Faust’s First Graders painted eggs and made Bunny Bags today!
Mr. Rooney's class took a trip to the P-Nut Bowl in Bloomsburg today. They gave the class special pricing and free shoe rentals. The kids had a blast. They then went and ate at Applebee’s in Bloomsburg for lunch. Students were able to use Book-It’s to get free kids meals.
Mrs. Sharrow's Kindergarten class was doing math with jellybeans and writing stories in their kid writing journals earlier this week.

Reminder that TOMORROW is our last day for the cereal collection. We will be working on constructing the cereal box domino run on Wednesday morning.
G.C. Hartman Elementary Center recently announced Fourth Grade Students of the Month for March. From left are, Jason Young, Amelia Dewald, Shilow Welkom, and Reina Lee. Students are selected based on character, leadership, academic performance and positive behavior.
This week the G. C. Hartman Elementary school has been collecting boxes of cereal for the cereal drive. These boxes will go to both the Catawissa and Elysburg food pantries. The goal for this year is to donate as many or more as last year. The drive ends April 12th and already over 100 boxes have been collected.

Miss Winter, who is currently student teaching in Ms. Habowski's 2nd-grade class, is doing a math unit on geometry. She did an interactive lesson where the students used clay to build 3-dimensional shapes. She then used the shapes built by the students to teach them about faces and vertices of each 3-D shape.
