Elementary staff continued a PSSA tradition with the 2022 version of PSSA Idol. Staff use Idol as a way of helping our students to relax and be in a positive frame of mind entering the PSSA testing period. Staff shared their talents as well as advice in helping students to do their best of the test.
Last Friday, April 22, 7th grade ELA celebrated Earth Day through outdoor poetry activities. Students started with a POE-to op using wings created while reading Edgar Allen Poe's poem, "The Raven." Students then participated in a poetry walk where they wrote some of their own poems with sidewalk chalk on the sidewalks by the middle school and read work from their peers. Finally, they observed nature down at the nature trail and turned their observations into a poem to finish their book of poems
On Monday, 6th grade held an assembly in the old gym. The theme was "Go for the Gold." The purpose was to motivate students for PSSA's that start on Tuesday.

Mrs. Becker’s student teacher, Miss Moyer, is covering a lesson on advertising in Marketing class. Students created their own pizza shops and are working to develop all the necessary materials for marketing their pizza business. Marketing concepts such as designing the layout of their shop, hiring employees, keeping an income statement, creating social media advertising and more are covered in this project. One of the activities involved constructing a “Food Truck” to help increase profits from their pizza business. 10th-12th grade students interested in health care professions can sign up for Geisinger's FREE summer enrichment program. This online program teaches about careers in patient care, IT, and finance that support healthcare institutions.

Students in Mrs. Spotts' room did a fun project in math class highlighting that a fraction is a part of something. In this project, the students used their own names and broke them down to determine the ratio of vowels and consonants in their names.

Mr. Roth’s 7th grade science classes are working on posters for Earth Day on Friday, April 22. The students can also receive a prize of 10 ears of corn for just submitting their posters to a community Earth Day Poster contest.

With the Coffee Shop re-opening after 2 years of being out of business, Mrs. Zysett's class has taken full advantage of the opportunity to add some snacks to the menu. Students taking Cooking on Your Own II have the task of making baked goods to sell at the coffee shop in the mornings. Be sure to stop by and grab some delicious treats.

7th grade science students created and presented projects to display their knowledge following a unit on cells.
Mr. Lindenmuth's Contemporary Issues class created Truth posters for their unit on Crime and Drugs. The goal of the project was to inform students on the dangers of drugs. Each group was assigned a specific drug, which they researched. Students then created a poster that included specific facts and statistics that were meant to shock the student body. The project was meant to mimic the famous Truth commercials seen on television.

Mrs. Faust’s First Graders painted eggs and made Bunny Bags today!
Mr. Rooney's class took a trip to the P-Nut Bowl in Bloomsburg today. They gave the class special pricing and free shoe rentals. The kids had a blast. They then went and ate at Applebee’s in Bloomsburg for lunch. Students were able to use Book-It’s to get free kids meals.
Mrs. Sharrow's Kindergarten class was doing math with jellybeans and writing stories in their kid writing journals earlier this week.
