SCA ALUM TO APPEAR ON ABCβS SHARK TANK
FEBRUARY 7, 2025, AT 8 PM ON ABC
Jared Ebersole, a 2019 graduate of Southern Columbia Area High School, developed his entrepreneurial skills as President of the Future Business Leaders of America club, guided by Lori Becker. These skills enabled him to launch his first company, selling DIY electric skateboard kits while still in high school. This early venture laid the groundwork for Lectec, the company he co-founded to bring hands-on STEM learning to students nationwide. Now, Jared is showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit on the national stage by pitching Lectec on Shark Tank, demonstrating how a small-town idea can grow into a national opportunity.
Will the Sharks recognize the potential in a startup that's revolutionizing STEM education through hands-on building? Tune in on February 7 at 8 pm to find out!

Physical Education plays a vital role in helping students develop essential skills such as effective communication and problem-solving through teamwork. On Saturday, January 25th, Ander Zanella, a 10th-grade student at Southern Columbia, was awarded over $1,000 for his impressive placement in the Voice of Democracy speech audio contest. He was invited to the Eisenhower Hotel in Gettysburg for the VFW's winter conference, where the winners of the competition were announced. Ander had previously won at the county and district levels, advancing to the state competition, where he placed 6th out of 4,705 contestants. This achievement marks the farthest any student from Southern Columbia has ever advanced in the competition.

HAPPY DAY 100 from Kindergarten!! π

Congratulations to Isabelle Honabach, Sarah Eyer, and Evelyn Staugaitis. These three students have shown exceptional talent by participating in the PMEA District 8 Band with over 140 other students. They are all advancing to the next step of Region Band after going through grueling auditions and showing great dedication and hard work on their respective instruments. We are filled with so much Tiger pride for our musicians! The Region Band concert will take place on March 7th at 7 PM at Williamsport High School. π΅π

On Wednesday, students from SCA competed in the WVIA Scholastic Scrimmage, a quiz-style competition where teams of 5-6 students from various districts go head-to-head. Representing SCA were Milind Kapadiya, Ryter McCoog, Victoria Heffner, Austin Shaffer, Mara Turner, and Alexandra Woodland. Over the past several weeks, these students dedicated their time and energy to practice and prepare for the competition. A special thanks to club advisor, Brian Leslie, for his unwavering support and dedication in helping the team prepare to compete.
