
December is here, and it's time to spread Holiday Cheer! The Southern Columbia High School and Middle School Student Councils, along with Elementary SWPBIS, will be holding the "12 Days of Holidays" beginning on Thursday, December 7. All students and staff are encouraged to participate in these dress up days. 🎅🎄❄️🤶

After a wonderful Thanksgiving break, we are continuing our celebration of our amazing staff. We start this week’s edition of "Together We’re Tigers" with the High School.

Over the weekend, three Senior members of S.A.V.E. (Students Against Violence Everywhere) used the funds raised during the annual Quarter Wars Challenge to deliver packaged detergent pods and dryer sheets to local laundromats for customers to use free of charge.
Additionally, members of the Peer Leadership program attended a S.A.V.E. leadership conference in Harrisburg last week to learn more about preventing social isolation and bullying here at Southern.



FBLA members Gracie Keller, Anesa Brown, and Elizabeth Hodder led a donation drive for the Bloomsburg Women's Center. The partnership was generated by Amanda Strocko, FBLA president. Students throughout the high school donated cleaning and hygiene items. Over 100 donations will be provided to the Center.


For "Thankful Thursday," Mr. Williams expressed thankfulness for Mr. Hynoski's return to SCA as our principal.


Last night, the SCA Varsity Club brought back the Powderpuff Game for the first time since 2019. In a defensive battle, Let There Be Light (Pink) defeated Lights Out (Black) 6-0 behind a Kennadie Reamer TD with 12 seconds left! Jillian Kehler had an interception at the goal line and took it 70 yards to set up the winning TD. Ella Podgurski had 2 interceptions for Lights Out.




In celebration of Thanksgiving Spirit Week and today's "Football Friday" theme in the high school, Skylar Riffindifil sported Mr. Hynoski's college jersey. Mr. Williams was found sporting Mr. Hynoski's NFL jersey on "Thankful Thursday."



Congratulations to the High School and Middle School students who were inducted into the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society last evening! National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society members are recognized for upholding the pillars of National Honor Society: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.



In celebration of Thanksgiving Spirit Week, we are thankful for Ms. Wondoloski and her years of service and dedication to SCA's Special Education Department. Best of luck on your retirement!

Mrs. Becker and Miss Benfer’s Business classes took a trip to Commonwealth University today to attend the “ZIPD” conference (Ziegler Institute for Professional Development). Students attended sessions on business related topics of interest.


Here are our October High School Students of The Month!
Mara Turner – Freshman
Mara is considerate and conscientious. She interacts well with both teachers and peers in a thoughtful and respectful way. She treats everyone with the respect and takes great pride in her work. Mara is a hard working student who always puts in the effort and never backs down from challenging assignments. She always makes positive choices, sets a great example for her fellow students, and is a great role model for her peers.
Vivien Miller – Sophomore
Vivien Miller is an outstanding student. She is an active member in classroom activities, often leading the conversation. She works hard on all of her assignments and sets a strong example for those around her. She is highly involved in many school clubs and activities where she brings her unwavering positive attitude and energy to supporting her groups. Vivien is a real leader.
Sarah Eyer – Junior
Sarah exemplifies everything a Tiger should be! She is caring and compassionate towards peers of all ages, works hard in her classes, is a peer leader and officer of her class, and has a positive attitude towards all things school related. Many of her younger peers look up to Sarah and know that she is a person they can approach about anything and is an all around great person and friend.
Aubrey Heath – Senior
Aubrey's positive attitude is contagious and she's always willing to lend a helping hand. She is responsible enough to handle any task and always completes her work on time. Her optimism helps others to see the good in any situation. She shows maturity and awareness of herself and those around her. She consistently displays kindness and respect towards both her peers and the teacher, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Family and Consumer Sciences students have been busy in the kitchen this week. Cooking on Your Own students whipped up brownies from scratch and International Foods students prepared eye-catching crepes.



On Saturday, November 11, the Choir, Band, and Encore students are hosting a "Whodunnit?" Dinner Theatre! There will be a murder mystery play titled "Dead Men Don't Need Rehearsals." The other students will be your waiters, waitresses, and hostesses for the evening. We will be serving Lasagna, Chicken Tenders, Salads, and of course, desserts.
Adult tickets are $30.00 and children 10 and under are $10.00. A table at this event seats 8, so try to fill up a table with you and your friends! If interested please contact Lexi or Nick McWilliams, Shelley Pfirman, or Samantha Eyer (her number is on the flyers).



Happy Veterans Day from Mrs. Roulin's High School Art students and Art Club members!
Art students made placemats for the Veterans Day dinner hosted at the school, and Art Club members helped design a banner that is on display to welcome our local Veterans who will be honored at SCA on Friday.









On Thursday, November 16, the Southern Columbia High School Varsity Club will be hosting the Powderpuff Game. The cost for spectators is $3 and only cash will be accepted. Come out and enjoy a great night of flag football!
