What a great start to the year for the 2023 Tiger Marching Band! Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. McWilliams, the music program has been flourishing, with numbers growing greatly for the first time in over five years. From a Disney trip at the end of last school year, to a Philadelphia Orchestra trip coming up, the band has been keeping busy and having a blast making friends and growing closer to one another. The band also has had a new class pet edition: four goldfish that they won on their trip to the Bloomsburg Fair. The band students took up a collection of money in order to purchase all of the necessary supplies needed to keep the fish in the band room. The band welcomes any students that are interested in joining to come check it out!

The Southern Columbia Cheerleaders held the 11th annual SCA Youth Cheer Night on Friday, September 22, during the Varsity home football game against the Danville Ironmen. Any students in 1st through 6th Grade were eligible to participate in this event. This year there were 63 youth cheerleaders in attendance. Each Varsity cheerleader was paired with 3-4 youth cheerleaders. The youth cheerleaders were able to perform chants, dances, and cheers on the Tigersβ sideline. The High School's Journalism class is hard at work! They have already selected a cover for the Elementary yearbook and have designed a cover for the High School yearbook during a virtual session with an artist from Jostens. They are now working on getting pictures and designing pages. Also, as part of the Journalism class they are required to report on and gather stories that are happening around each of the schools. In addition to teacher submissions, these are the stories that you find on the Districtβs website and Facebook page. Make sure you stay tuned for more stories and don't forget to order your yearbooks!

What a beautiful day at the Bloomsburg Fair for our Marching Band members! They kicked off the fair music on Wednesday morning by performing at the Grandstand and then by marching around the fairgrounds. The crowd loved it, and we're so happy to see the numbers in our band growing!

On Saturday, September 23, our school held its annual Homecoming. This year's theme was Starry Autumn Nights. The Homecoming Court consisted of Caitlyn Brent, Mason Barvitskie, Anesa Brown, Sean Buhay, Sayla Chapman, Isaac Carter, Victoria Conway, Garrett Garcia, Jadyn Jankowski, Gavin Krebs, Quinn Johnston, and Louden Murphy. On Friday, Isaac Carter was crowned King at our Homecoming Pep Rally. Later that night, Quinn Johnston was crowned Queen during the football game. The Homecoming Dance was the perfect way to celebrate the 2023 Homecoming King and Queen, and it provided the student body with a fantastic evening of fun and friendship.
