Tigers Ready to Roar in Playoffs
The Boys Soccer team wrapped up an impressive regular season with a 12-5-1 record, showing consistency, teamwork, and determination from start to finish. Now, with momentum on their side, the team turns its focus to the playoffs, where they will open against Northeast Bradford at Danville this Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
The Girls Soccer team capped off the regular season with an outstanding 15-3 record. Their strong defense and relentless offense have been key to their success all year long. They will also begin postseason play against Montgomery at Danville this Saturday at 12:00 p.m.

7th Grade Science students recently completed an earthworm dissection lab. Students learned about the unique structures and biological processes of these often-overlooked invertebrates that have helped shaped the natural world as we know it! 🪱

🏫 It’s been a busy start to the school year, but we’re finally taking a moment to spotlight five incredible new educators who joined Southern Columbia this fall! Each one brings something special to our Tiger community, and we’re excited for you to get to know them.

Students in Ms. Charlton's Honors Anatomy & Physiology class investigated slides prepared from their own cheek and skin cells. Students were tasked to identify any organelles that were visible and relate this to their current unit on cells and tissues. 🔬
Yesterday, High School Art Club members participated in The Exchange's annual Halloween Window Painting Contest in Downtown Bloomsburg under the advisership of Mrs. Roulin. After finishing their paintings, students had the chance to explore The Exchange's current gallery exhibition, gaining inspiration from the incredible work on display by local artists. It was a wonderful day for our student artists! 🎃👻🦇
Students in Mrs. Becker's Accounting class had an incredible opportunity to meet Tim DeFoor, Pennsylvania’s Auditor General, and Stacey Garrity, the PA State Treasurer today. They also explored the PA Treasury Vault and toured the stunning State Capitol Building in Harrisburg. 🏛️
On Saturday, the Southern Columbia Marching Band participated in their first band competition in decades. The competition took place at Shamokin High School and five other schools participated. The SCA band received a Silver trophy in their category, which means they received a proficient score. Congratulations to the band on this achievement!
Since this was the band's first competition in some time, the experience was especially meaningful. In addition to earning a Silver rating, they received a special award and grew as musicians through the event, proudly representing our school district in the community.

Fifteen gifted education students attended the first annual Keystone Competition at the CSIU. They were tasked with designing a change that could improve Pennsylvania schools using anything from cardboard to Canva.
The students did incredibly well. The team of Marlowe Schock, Audrina Stefanowicz, Aaliyah Rowe, and Kinsley Wiehe won 1st place out of 10 teams in the 7th–8th grade band and also received the Computer Science Creator Award. The team of Ava Kate Maciejewski, Emma Maciejewski, Cecilia Krieger, and Anthony Lengyel won 1st place out of 13 teams in the 5th–6th grade band and also earned the Computer Science Creator Award.

At their final home game yesterday, the Boys Soccer Team presented the Southern Columbia Band with a donation for Breast Cancer Awareness. This is yet another great example of our school community coming together for a meaningful cause. ⚽🎶

Students in our Career Readiness classes stepped into the shoes of future entrepreneurs as they researched and presented on franchise ownership. Each group selected a franchise and delivered a professional presentation to their peers, covering key business elements like start-up costs, staffing needs, and a timeline for launching their franchise. We’re proud of their hard work and growing confidence in career planning!
