Families who receive SNAP benefits and are not receiving them due to the government shutdown can still access support through local food banks, community organizations, and county assistance offices. These resources are available to help ensure families have the food and support they need during this time.

Food | CSO (https://www.csocares.org/food) - food distribution sites based in Northumberland, Columbia, and Montour Counties

Individuals are also able to call or text 211 for more resources as well.

Catawissa Food Bank will also be having a special food giveaway for SNAP recipients only on Thursday, Nov. 6th from 4:30-6:00 at the Catawissa UMC Church, 228 South St.

Anyone on SNAP living in the Southern Columbia School District, Grovania, Legion Road or Rupert is welcome. Please bring your SNAP EBT Card, Compass App or paperwork from the welfare office showing that you are receiving SNAP benefits.

❄️ Snowball Dance Location Update! ❄️

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Snowball Dance will now be held in the High School Cafeteria instead of the Old Gym. The date and time remain the same—just a new spot for all the winter fun! Please use the Old Gym Lobby doors to enter and exit. We can’t wait to see everyone there, dressed to impress and ready to dance the night away! Please remember to hand your permission forms in by November 12th.

Last night, the Student Council hosted its annual Trunk or Treat.  During this event, sports teams, clubs, teachers, and administrators came together to decorate their trunks with fun themes and hand out candy.  The event featured 30 uniquely decorated trunks and welcomed approximately 600 students. This event brought together students of all ages to celebrate Halloween, and we’re grateful to everyone who attended and helped make it a success! 🎃👻🦇

SCA is very excited to welcome a new organization, Youth in Philanthropy (YIP). YIP empowers high school students to make a positive impact on their community through hands-on learning and grantmaking.

Seven high school students, along with their YIP advisors—Señora Borys and Mrs. Long—attended a YIP kick-off event to learn more about philanthropy and the needs assessment process. By the end of the year, the students will select one deserving organization to receive a grant based on the needs of our community.
